Indications and Dosage
Otic/Aural
Otitis externa
Adult: 1 spray (60 mg) to each affected ear tid. Continue treatment until 2 days after symptoms have disappeared. Discontinue if there is no clinical improvement after 7 days.
Child: ≥2 yr Same as adult dose.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to neomycin sulfate, dexamethasone or glacial acetic acid. Known or suspected perforation of tympanic membrane or where a tympanostomy tube (grommet) is in situ.
Special Precautions
Childn. Pregnancy and lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Skin sensitisation or hypersensitivity leading to burning, stinging, irritation, itching and dermatitis.
Action
Description:
Mechanism of Action: Neomycin is a broad spectrum antibiotic while dexamethasone is a topical anti-inflammatory steroid. Acetic acid assist in the control of bacterial infection by producing a low pH.
